ORANGE COUNTY EARNINGS

SRS Labs Inc.: The Santa Ana provider of audio and voice enhancement technology reported a 1998 net loss of $17.6 million, or $1.54 a share, which included acquisition-related charges of $18.5 million. For the prior year, net income totaled $3.8 million, or 35 cents a share. Revenue climbed to $44.7 million from $10.1 million. The company said year-to-year results are not comparable because of the acquisition in 1998 of Valence Technology, a consumer electronics chip designer and distributor.
