Little Black Book Goes Digital

Wireless phones are giving new meaning to the term “getting the digits.” Taking advantage of technology, 20-somethings are using voice-memo recording and voice-activated dialing to record names and numbers of potential dates directly into their cell phones.

“Using a voice-memo recorder alleviates the need for a pen and cocktail napkin,” says Blue Kusaka, 25, who has noticed voice-memo recorders being used at hot spots like West L.A.’s Liquid Kitty. “One night I met this girl, and when I pulled out my phone she was really impressed by the features. Before I knew it, she was pressing ‘record’ and leaving her name and number.”

The voice-activated dialing feature provides added security because it recognizes only the owner’s voice. Kusaka explains, “My friends have been known to try to get telephone numbers [of hot dates] off my phone. But with this, there’s no chance of date stealing.”
