CKE Names Dunion Chief Administrator

John J. Dunion has been named executive vice president and chief administrative officer for CKE Restaurants in Anaheim, responsible for overseeing the planning and direction of nearly all major corporate staff functions for the Carl’s Jr., Hardee’s and Taco Bueno chains. Dunion joined CKE in 1996 as vice president of purchasing, and was named senior vice president, purchasing in 1997. Before that, he was vice president, purchasing, for Unigate Restaurants Inc. in Dallas. He also has held purchasing and technical positions with Foodmaker Inc. and Taco Bell Corp.

In addition, Linda Larsen has been appointed director, regional marketing, for Carl’s Jr. restaurants. Larsen has been with CKE for 19 years in various marketing capacities. Elaine Richardson has been named director, equipment and packaging. Before joining the company in 1994 as a senior purchasing agent, Richardson was with Hunt Wesson for nine years.

* James W. Stryker has been appointed chief financial officer of Johnny Rockets Group Inc. in Irvine, parent company of the Johnny Rockets restaurant chain. He had been chief financial officer for Rubio’s Restaurants Inc. and, before that, was chief financial officer for El Torito Restaurants Inc.

Susan Finley has been named executive vice president at Merit Assn. Services Inc. in Mission Viejo. She had been vice president.

* Sandra Durn has been appointed vice president and portfolio manager for Pacific Investment Management Co., a unit of Pimco Advisors Holdings LP in Newport Beach. She was formerly with Nicholas-Applegate Capital Management.

* Girina Dong has been named vice president, customer service for Autobytel.com in Irvine, an Internet car-buying service. She was previously director of quality assurance and product integration for the company.

* William A. Funk has joined Capital Pacific Holdings Inc. in Newport Beach as senior vice president in charge of commercial development. Funk was most recently senior vice president with Orange-based Holmes & Narver, an engineering, design and construction company. Before that, Funk was vice president and western district manager for the Austin Co. For the past five years, he has been a member of the board of directors of Capital Pacific.

* Ali Shadman has joined Unisys Corp. in Mission Viejo as director of engineering technology optimization. He was previously a director with Constellar Corp. in Redwood Shores.

* Aubrey P. Walton has joined the marketing department of Corbin & Wertz in Irvine. He was formerly a business development officer for eight years with Sunwest Bank. Walton has also held positions with Eldorado, Valencia Bank and California City Bank.

* William C. Power has been named vice president of sales for American Security Distribution in Anaheim. Previously, Power worked in strategic marketing for Ingersoll/Rand. Earlier, he worked for more than 20 years at American Security, serving as vice president of sales from 1986 to 1997.

* Gary R. Peacock has been appointed general manager and chief financial officer of Montech Financial Systems Management in Anaheim. Peacock was formerly chief financial officer of a number of Southern California companies.

* Perry J. Viscounty has been named chair of Latham & Watkins’ litigation department in Costa Mesa. His practice focuses on intellectual property and technology litigation. In addition, Viscounty advises companies on how to minimize the risk of Y2K litigation.

* Michael Morris has been appointed general sales manager of Tuttle-Click Hyundai/Suzuki in the Irvine Auto Center. He was most recently general sales manager of Tuttle-Click Chrysler-Plymouth/Jeep in Tucson.

* Terrence Sandvick has joined the board of New Century Financial Corp. in Irvine. He is president of Business Technology Center, a subsidiary of U.S. Bancorp.

* Cathy Taylor has joined iBASEt in Lake Forest as director of marketing. She previously spent four years directing the marketing communications programs for DataWorks Corp.

* Randall G. Berry has been appointed director of public works engineering for Tait & Associates Inc. in Santa Ana. He has more than 14 years’ experience in public works projects.

* Eric Weaver has been appointed senior vice president and managing director of the Irvine office of Brand Dialogue, an interactive service organization. Weaver was formerly vice president of client and practice management for Magnet Interactive.

* Jeff Mayer, managing director of Gensler’s Newport Beach office, has been appointed vice president. Mayer joined the architecture, design and planning firm in 1997.

* Henry Kohlmann has joined the intellectual property practice of Snell & Wilmer LLP in Irvine. Before practicing privately, Kohl

mann was corporate vice president and general counsel for Sanyo Icon and Cipher Data Products, chief counsel for Microdata Corp. and the McDonnell Douglas Computer Systems Co., and corporate patent counsel for McDonnell Douglas Corp.
