Nature Break--During summer vacation, children 4 to 10 can develop their outdoor skills at the Oak Canyon Nature Center’s day camp in Anaheim. Nine weeks of activities start June 21, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays. Activities include Native American arts and crafts, ceremonial games and dances and other aspects of American Indian life. Cost is $70 per child per week. Registration is by mail only until May 1. After that, walk-in and mail-in registrations continue until the sessions are full. The nature center is at 6700 E. Walnut Canyon Road, just off Nohl Ranch Road near the Anaheim Hills Golf Course. Information: (714) 998-8380.

Outdoor Eggs-ercise--Visit the Santa Ana Zoo April 3 to discover the many types of animals that lay eggs. The zoo’s annual spring event features displays of various sizes and colors of eggs, children’s crafts, seed planting and an appearance by the Easter bunny. The event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., is included in zoo admission. Cost is $4 for adults; $2 for children 3 to 12. Information: (714) 953-8555. The zoo is in Prentice Park, 1801 E. Gift of Nature--Gift certificates for children’s nature camp this summer are available from Sea & Sage Audubon. The programs for children 9 to 12 focus on birds and animal tracking. Activities include daily field walks, journal writing, sketching, crafts and hands-on experience with live and mounted specimens. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The schedule is: “Tracking Trails” at the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary, July 26-30, and at Starr Ranch Sanctuary, Aug. 23-25; and “Marsh Talks and Bird Walks” at the San Joaquin sanctuary, Aug. 9-13.
