Canyons Are Made to Be Cherished

Share

Re “Carving Up Canyon Country,” March 7:

After my first drive to the area eight months ago, I moved to Silverado after living in Laguna for 10 years. It was the pristine beauty of the area that captured me.

I certainly hope that county officials will see fit to act in the only acceptable manner regarding responsible development of the canyons and uphold the current zoning regulations rather than amending them to the demands of developers.

You quoted Supervisor Todd Spitzer as saying, “It took millions of years to make these canyons.” I must then ask, are they really ours to destroy?

The majesty of these mountains and streams and the thriving community of plants and animals that have lived here for centuries is a gift to be cherished, not to let perish.
