Big Inning Helps Orange Coast to Victory

Jason Reuss’ three-run home run capped an eight-run fifth inning for Orange Coast and the Pirates went on to rout Pasadena, 15-4, in nonconference baseball Tuesday.

Ryan Clark also homered in the seventh inning for Orange Coast (12-12). It was his 10th of the season, tying him with teammate Brandon Thompson for the county lead. The last time OCC had two players with at least 10 home runs in the same season was 1987.

In Orange Empire Conference softball:

Santa Ana 7, Orange Coast 0--Santa Ana scored five unearned runs in the sixth inning to seal the victory. Santa Ana’s Lisa Helo doubled and picked up an RBI in the sixth inning.

Sara Vaughn pitched 4 1/3 innings and struck out four for the victory. Erica Pilkington retired all eight OCC batters she faced, including five strikeouts, for the save.

In Orange Empire Conference men’s tennis:

Saddleback 9, Fullerton 0--Erik Lundblad defeated David Morales, 6-2, 6-1, then teamed with James Jacobson for a 6-2, 6-4 victory in doubles. The Gauchos are 13-0, 10-0.
