Two jewelry salesmen who got a flat tire Monday were robbed of about $150,000 in diamonds after stopping at a Westminster gas station, police said.

Lt. Bob Amren, a spokesman for the Westminster Police Department, said the robbery occurred about 4:30 p.m. when the two discovered that their tire had been slashed and stopped to get it fixed at the Mobil station at Bolsa Avenue and Magnolia Street. Two men--one carrying a gun, the other a knife--approached them, took the diamonds and escaped in a new silver Nissan Maxima with two accomplices who had remained in the car, Amren said.

He described the robbers as Latinos, ages 20 to 25. He did not release the names of the jewelry salesmen.

Police are investigating whether the robbers caused the flat, then followed the car to the gas station, Amren said.
