Men’s tennis

Bohun continued his outstanding senior season Sunday in leading the Anteaters to the championship of the UCI/Sheraton Newport Beach Classic. Bohun’s 7-6, 6-4 victory over Alabama Birmingham’s Martin Woisetschlager broke a 3-3 tie in the match to give Irvine the victory. Bohun is 13-1 this season and has won his last seven singles matches.

THIS WEEK

Men’s volleyball: The Anteaters face some tough competition this week, with top-ranked Long Beach State Wednesday and seventh-ranked Hawaii on Saturday. Both matches start at 7 p.m. at Crawford Hall.

Irvine (11-8, 8-6) is battling for the school’s first berth in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation postseason tournament and already has set a school record for victories in a season. Mike Rupp had 28 kills in a victory over Cal State Northridge last week, and Donnie Rafter had 19 kills in a victory over UC San Diego.

Men’s tennis: Irvine goes on the road to play at Arizona State Wednesday and Arizona Thursday. Arizona State is ranked 12th in the country.

The Anteaters (13-1) are ranked 41st in the country after winning their 20th annual tournament. They used victories from Chris Ma, Chris Chung, Stefan Pongratz and Thomas Bohun.

Women’s tennis: The Anteaters, who finished third in the UCI Spring Invitational last week, will play at No. 19 Fresno State Thursday, at Pacific Friday and at Nevada Saturday.

Track and field: The Anteaters host the Big West Challenge Cup Saturday at Anteater Stadium.

Golf: Irvine will finish the two-day Spaulding/Anteater Invitational at Coto de Caza today.
