With President Clinton in attendance, a portrait of former Secretary of State Warren Christopher was unveiled Tuesday at a State Department ceremony.

The portrait will be hung on the seventh floor of the State Department along with those of other secretaries of State.

In brief remarks, Clinton hailed Christopher for his modesty and his contributions to peace.

Christopher has practiced law in Southern California after completing his service as Clinton’s first secretary of State in 1997.
