A 9-year-old Oxnard boy was listed in critical condition Friday after he was struck by a mini-truck during a hit-and-run accident.

Jacob Michael Osuna was crossing Devonshire Drive just west of Carty Street Thursday evening when he was hit by the pickup, police said.

The boy, who was walking southbound to meet a friend, was thrown about 60 feet.

Police said the truck was last seen westbound on Devonshire.

Jacob sustained internal injuries and possible paralysis, according to police. He was initially transported to St. John’s Regional Medical in Oxnard and later transferred to Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara.

He was in the pediatric intensive care unit Friday.

After the accident, Oxnard Police Officer Brett Smith scoured the area for two hours trying to find the vehicle. His search ended when he located the truck parked in front of a residence on G Street.

Police said the vehicle is registered to Ignacio Quintana Abad. Anyone with information about the accident or Abad’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Oxnard Police Department’s traffic unit at 385-7750.
