Attorney Takes Plea Deal in Pimping, Pandering Case

A Tarzana tax attorney has pleaded no contest to a charge of pandering in exchange for an agreement allowing him to spend prison time in a drug rehabilitation program.

Bobby Abrams, 51, entered the plea Wednesday just as his trial on nine counts of pimping and pandering was scheduled to begin in Van Nuys before Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Hoff. Abrams was allowed to remain free until a June 28 sentencing to a mandatory three years in prison.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Peter Korn said prosecutors agreed to allow Abrams to serve his term at the California Rehabilitation Center, a state prison for less violent offenders, provided Abrams can show at the time of sentencing that he is an addict.

Abrams was arrested in February 1998 and charged with running a brothel, called “Fantasy Affairs,” out of his small second-story office on Ventura Boulevard. He also must demonstrate that he has moved out of the office by the sentencing date, Korn said.
