Cuban state television said Saturday that Monday’s exhibition game between the Cuban national team and the Baltimore Orioles at Baltimore’s Camden Yards could be in jeopardy because of visa problems.

“As a result of difficulties that have arisen at the last minute due to the delay in visas for all the members of the delegation, it is possible that the departure may be delayed, or even that the trip may be suspended,” said an official communique read on an evening news program.

The Cuban team was scheduled to leave Havana this morning.

The Texas Rangers put shortstop Royce Clayton, who has a strained muscle behind his right shoulder, on the 15-day disabled list. He injured the shoulder on April 7 and missed four games. He suffered a more severe strain of the muscle making a throw Friday night against Cleveland. The Rangers filled Clayton’s roster spot by recalling infielder Kelly Dransfeldt from Oklahoma of the Pacific Coast League.
