Three tenants have been evicted under a 2-month-old ordinance requiring landlords to kick out residents arrested for drug- or gang-related activities. The City Council voted to put the controversial ordinance in place starting March 11, with the aim of curbing crime. The American Civil Liberties Union has called the ordinance unconstitutional because it allows the eviction of tenants who have been arrested but not yet convicted.

Police sent letters informing three landlords that their tenants have been arrested on suspicion of drug-related activity. The landlords have since moved to evict the tenants, police said.
