The City Council this week allocated about $718,000 in community development block grants. The city handed over $139,400 to help transform La Bonita Park into a sports center, complete with basketball and volleyball courts and a skate park. The council also set aside $101,400 toward revitalizing La Habra Boulevard, a project that could cost as much as $1.8 million and eliminate parking along the road. The city kept $143,600 for administrative costs. The remaining money will be distributed among various community organizations.
