Since it served as the memorable backdrop to the opening title sequence of TV’s “Three’s Company,” the Los Angeles Zoo has fielded few calls from location managers. “The Bronx and San Diego zoos charge high fees for filming,” says L.A. Zoo Director Manuel Mollinedo, who recently announced plans to low-ball the competition and make the L.A. Zoo “film friendly.” The zoo will charge $3,000 per day for large film crews, compared to the $10,000 that San Diego or the Bronx rakes in.
