Driver Rides a Wave of Enthusiasm for AT

George Foster, a 44-year-old driver for Los Angeles-based Global Car & Limousine Service, is often in the company of highflying corporate executives. Until last week, however, he remained unmoved by the world of business and the stock market.

But Foster said he caught the bug while ferrying around AT&T; Chairman C. Michael Armstrong during his visit to Los Angeles. Impressed by Armstrong’s gentlemanly nature and the enthusiasm of the chief executive and others, Foster said he invested $2,500 in AT&T; shares (after the company’s purchase of MediaOne Group was announced). “The whole energy in here was so positive,” he said.
