Hot-Air Balloon Hits Power Lines; 3 Burned

MORGAN HILL, Calif. —
A couple from Georgia were critically burned Sunday when the hot-air balloon they were riding in crashed into power lines, igniting an explosion that engulfed the aircraft and sent it tumbling into a field.
Pilot Doug Spencer of Marina broke a leg when he leaped from the burning balloon and was in serious condition at a San Jose hospital with face and hand burns. Holly Jacobs suffered burns on 80% to 90% of her body, and her husband, Doug Jacobs, had burns on 70% to 80% of his body.
