Accused Spy Ordered Held Until Trial

A federal judge ordered an Australian accused of trying to sell U.S. defense secrets to remain in jail until his trial because of the risk he might flee. The Alexandria, Va., judge said Jean-Philippe Wispelaere was not employed in the U.S. Wispelaere, 28, will plead not guilty at his next court appearance, his lawyer said. The former Australian intelligence analyst allegedly tried to sell more than 700 secret U.S. documents to another country.
