Volunteers are needed to place nearly 3,000 crosses and flags at the graves of veterans at Loma Vista Memorial Park in preparation for the 61st annual Fullerton Memorial Day Observance. Participants will meet at 8 a.m. Saturday to help place the crosses and flags and at 8 a.m. Tuesday to help clean up. Volunteers are encouraged to bring wheelbarrows, wagons or carts to the cemetery, 701 E. Bastanchury Road. The Memorial Day program will include a special salute to the military police. Police Chief Patrick E. McKinley will speak at the free event, which begins at 10 a.m. Monday.

The American Veterans Memorial Assn. is also seeking donations, which would be used to purchase crosses and flags. Donations may be sent to the association at P.O. Box 0824, Fullerton, CA 92832-0824. Event information: (714) 738-6317.
