In a move that sealed the $8-million expansion of Mile Square Regional Park’s golf course, the Orange County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to approve the environmental report for the development. Construction can now begin as soon as Monday. After the vote, Supervisor Charles V. Smith invited model rocket and airplane hobbyists, who have traditionally used the site, to meet with him to discuss alternatives. “I’m sure we can find some place in Orange County where they can continue their hobby,” he said. Bob Richards, chairman of the Save Mile Square Park committee, said he wasn’t satisfied with the offer. The committee’s attorney, Vincent Goodwin, will file a lawsuit and have a hearing set for an injunction against the county this week, Richards said.
