Rosie’s Garage, an after-school tutoring program, is holding its first 5K walk/run June 5 to raise money to help send graduating eighth-graders on a trip to Washington, D.C. The Washington Middle School students who participate in the tutoring program use money raised through sponsors for the cost of the annual trip, which normally is $2,000. If they raise 25%, Rosie’s Garage promises to come up with the remaining 75%, said Rose Espinoza, founder of the nationally recognized program.

Anyone can participate in the walk, which begins at 8 a.m. at 350 Hillcrest St., the headquarters of Neighborhood Housing Services of Orange County. For information or to make donations, call Neighborhood Housing Services at (562) 694-2051.
