Orange Unified School District trustees will decide tonight how to bring a $750,000-a-year music education program back for its 30 elementary schools, which serve more than 16,000 students. Program details as well as budget cuts for its potential funding will be presented. “It’s like starting from scratch,” district spokeswoman Judy Frutig said. “It will be fun to see how the district can put together a music program.” School officials eliminated music from district curriculum in 1985 because of budget constraints. If approved, Frutig said, the program could be implemented as early as this fall. The school board meets for public session at 7:30 p.m. at the District Education Center, 1401 N. Handy St. Information: (714) 628-4000.
