Quintek Wins Contract to Convert Digital Files for Baltimore Utility

Quintek Technologies in Camarillo has been awarded a contract to convert 30,000 digital files belonging to Baltimore Gas & Electric into another medium to ensure the long-term survival of crucial engineering information.

The conversion effort is expected to start this month and finish by year’s end.

Quintek provides chemical-free equipment, software, media and services to convert digital information into archival media for off-site backup and long-term storage.

The off-site backup is designed to ensure against the loss of digital information due to catastrophic events. Long-term storage media is intended to ensure against the loss of digital information due to computer virus, technology obsolescence, Y2K rollover, equipment failure, media degradation, change in formatting standards and software incompatibility.
