Replacement Named for Retiring Amgen Officer

Amgen has named George Morstyn senior vice president for development and chief medical officer, succeeding Kirby Alton, who is retiring after 18 years at the company.
Morstyn previously served as vice president for product development and chief medical officer.
Morstyn has been responsible for the design, development and implementation of clinical trials for all product candidates, as well as the submission of clinical data to regulatory authorities and subsequent product approvals.
Before he joined the Thousand Oaks biotechnology company in 1991, he conducted clinical and laboratory research at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research at Melbourne University in Australia.
