ABT’s New ‘Le Corsaire,’ Taped at OCPAC, to Be Shown on TV

American Ballet Theatre’s new production of “Le Corsaire,” filmed in Segerstrom Hall at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in February, will be broadcast Dec. 20 from 9-11 p.m. on KCET-TV Channel 28 and on Jan. 1 from 9 to 11 p.m. on KOCE-TV Channel 50.

The principal dancers include Julie Kent as Medora, Paloma Herrera as her friend Gulnare and Ethan Stiefel as the pirate Conrad. Other important roles include Ali the slave, danced by Angel Corella, and Lankendem, the bazaar owner, danced by Vladimir Malakhov. The Pacific Symphony is conducted by Ermanno Florio.

Acclaimed Martinez Dancers Will Make a Rare O.C. Date

The Los Angeles-based Francisco Martinez Dancetheatre, last seen in Orange County at the Curtis Theatre in Brea in the early ‘90s, will dance a program of mixed repertory Nov. 13 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 14 at 3 p.m. at the Grove Theater Center’s Gem Theater, 12852 Main St., Garden Grove. The critically acclaimed 18-year-old ballet troupe will dance Martinez’s “Songs From a Quiet Place,” “Dark Corner” and “Fostering Dreams.” $16.50-$18.50. (714) 741-9555.
