Shooter’s Brain Has ‘Holes,’ Doctor Says

A neurologist testified in Eugene, Ore., that there are “holes” in school shooter Kip Kinkel’s brain that could indicate mental illness. Dr. Richard J. Konkol testified that a scan revealed areas of reduced blood flow--or “holes”--especially in the frontal lobe, which controls emotions and decision-making. Last year, Kinkel killed his parents and went on a rampage at Thurston High School in Springfield that left two students dead and 25 wounded. He pleaded guilty in September to four counts of murder and 26 counts of attempted murder.
