For the first time, jet-boat tours of the Salton Sea, about three hours east of Los Angeles, will be offered. The Salton Sea Recreation Area and Yuma River Tours will operate the tours on Jan. 15 and 16, when hundreds of thousands of migratory waterfowl stop in the area. The fee is $25 per person. The site, at https://www.collegetravelnetwork.com, offers discounted fares (for instance, $169 round trip for Monday to Thursday travel between 1,001 and 2,000 miles, posted last week); tickets on more than 500 carriers; a student frequent-flier program; and links to other travel sites. United claims the site is unique among major airlines. . . . The National Watch and Clock Museum in Columbia, Pa., has more than doubled in size, to 50,000 square feet, and organized its 13,000 watches, timepieces and clocks into time periods. Tel.
