ORANGE
The Orange Unified School District board discussed West Orange Elementary’s On Track Program on Thursday, expressing concerns about the criteria of the program.
Board members are concerned that the federally funded gang-prevention program--which is offered at the school but is not considered a district program--does not comply with district standards.
About a dozen participants and supporters of On Track urged the board to continue the program, which is in its second year.
“It is not my desire to cut out this program, but there are a lot of concerns and questions,” said trustee Martin Jacobson. “Clearly this was not done correctly from the onset.”
