“I had a really nice Syrah from Dehlinger Winery--a ’96. The climate and soil in western Sonoma County may be the most perfect conditions for Syrah. As much a fan as I am of Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast, Syrah is a knockout wine for the Western Coast. This had balance, persistence, a long finish, texture . . . plus great fruit, mostly red berries. The voluptuousness of the wine is incredible.”
