KDS USA, a privately held Garden Grove maker of computer monitors, acquired Mag Portable Technologies LLC. Terms were not disclosed.

Mag, based in Santa Ana, will change its name to KDS Computers as part of the deal and become a wholly-owned subsidiary of KDS USA, which is owned by Seoul-based Korean Data Systems. KDS, founded in 1983, has 1,200 employees worldwide and about $1 billion in revenue, company officials said.

Mag’s 20 employees will be retained. Saeed Shahbazi, its former vice president of operations and sales, will be president of KDS Computers, while Del Larsh, who was Mag’s vice president of channel sales, will be the company’s vice president of sales. Mag had sales of about $10 million in 1998.
