Swiss Bank Whistle-Blower to Speak at Synagogue
Christoph Meili, the Swiss bank employee who blew the whistle on the shredding of documents pertaining to the assets of Holocaust survivors, will speak at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Congregation Shir Ha-Ma’alot, 3652 Michelson Blvd., Irvine.
Meili was a security guard at Union Bank of Switzerland when he discovered books of old documents about to be shredded. Meili turned over the documents to police and to the Jewish community in Zurich. After being forced to emigrate, Meili and his family settled in Orange County.
