Bergen Brunswig Corp. said Monday that its drug company subsidiary has signed contracts to provide management services for a federal health agency and to provide pharmaceutical products for Save Mart Supermarkets.

The company said in a press release that its Bergen Brunswig Drug Co. will provide logistics management and value-added services to help the U.S. Health Resources and Service Administration improve its product procurement efficiency.

The company did not put a value on the two-year prime vendor partnership agreement. Under the contract, the drug unit also will help reduce inventory costs for Health Resources and Service Administration members, thereby lowering the cost of prescription drugs to low-income patients. The federal agency is a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

In a separate deal, the drug company said it will provide pharmaceuticals and other items to the 28 Save Mart stores in central and Northern California with pharmacy operations. The three-year contract, which started Oct. 1, is expected to generate more than $100 million in revenue for Bergen.
