MAI Systems Posts $7.5-Million Loss

MAI Systems Corp.: The Irvine information systems and services company said it lost $7.5 million, or 68 cents a share, for the third quarter, compared with net income of $53,000, or 1 cent a share, a year ago. Revenue declined 22% to $11.4 million.

The company warned earlier that it would post a loss and lower revenue because of delays in some installations of its hospitality software products. At the time, MAI also said it had hired Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette Inc. to evaluate strategic options, including the potential sale of some assets.
