Redskins’ Stadium Changes Name Again

The home of the Washington Redskins gets its second name change of the year Sunday.

The facility formerly known as Jack Kent Cooke Stadium and currently called Redskins Stadium will be rechristened FedEx Field before kickoff of the home game against the New York Giants.

Wide receiver Rae Carruth of the Carolina Panthers offered to let police in Charlotte, N.C., test his hands for gunshot residue hours after his pregnant girlfriend was shot, but he had already washed them, a TV station reported.

Quoting unidentified sources, WSOC-TV said Cherica Adams’ mother paged Carruth to come to the hospital shortly after doctors delivered her daughter’s son 10 weeks prematurely. When he arrived, Carruth washed his hands and held the baby briefly, the station reported.

Adams, 24, was hit by bullets from a passing vehicle early Tuesday. She underwent more surgery Friday and remained in critical condition, as did her newborn son. The child was not struck by any bullets, police said.
