The family of the Texas woman who was smashed in the head with a brick thanked New Yorkers Monday for their prayers and kindness, and said they bear no anger toward the city where Nicole Barrett was attacked.

“It’s unbelievable how much support we’re getting,” said Scott Barrett, Barrett’s 24-year-old brother. “We in no way look at New York City in a bad light. It’s a very nice town.”

“Now we know why Nikki loves New York,” said Sharon Barrett, the victim’s mother.

Barrett, 27, was attacked last week near the Grand Central Terminal by a man who police believe might have been homeless. She required brain surgery after the assault. Her family said she is now talking and appears to be recovering.

The family plans to spend Thanksgiving at her bedside.
