Space Vacated by Fluor Partly Filled

The office project that found itself with the largest vacancy ever in Orange County--more than 600,000 square feet--has been partly filled over the last 10 days, the owner and property manager of Park Place Office Campus said Monday.

The opening was created when Fluor Corp., which had based its headquarters there for more than two decades, moved its headquarters to Aliso Viejo this summer. Winthrop Management, which operates the landmark building in Irvine, said about 16%, or 96,900 square feet, of the empty space had been filled by six new or current tenants that took space or expanded, with leases valued at a combined $15 million.

They are Washington Mutual, 48,000 square feet; BAX Global Inc., 31,000 square feet; IT Corp., which added 10,000 square feet to its 48,000 square feet; America E-Solutions, 4,000 square feet; the California Department of Transportation, which is adding 2,500 square feet to its 148,000 square feet; and Sarnoff Information Technologies, 1,400 square feet.
