PRI Wins Most Guerrero Elections

Mexico’s ruling party swept to victory in local elections throughout the violent southern state of Guerrero. With 93% of polling stations having reported, the Institutional Revolutionary Party, or PRI, won 22 of 28 seats in the state legislature and took 59 of the 76 mayoral races. But the leftist Democratic Revolution Party’s Zeferino Torreblanco won the high-profile position of mayor of Acapulco.
