Bush Backs Cutoff of Museum Funds

Texas Gov. George W. Bush, in Buffalo, N.Y., during a campaign stop, backed New York City Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani’s attempts to cut off city funds for the Brooklyn Museum of Art because of its controversial exhibit. The show, which opened Saturday, features, among other items, a black Virgin Mary adorned with body parts and elephant dung. “From what I’ve read, the exhibit besmirches religion,” said Bush, the GOP presidential front-runner, who was accompanied by New York Gov. George Pataki.
