SBA Singles Out Minority Firms
A Long Beach information technology enterprise, a Gardena packaging company and a Chatsworth animatronic company are among the minority firms to be honored by the Small Business Administration and the mayor’s Minority Business Opportunity Committee.
Awardees will receive their honors as part of Minority Enterprise Development Week--proclaimed annually by the president--at a breakfast Oct. 14.
The entrepreneurs to be honored by the SBA are Yuhwei Yang, whose Long Beach-based Product Data Integration Technologies Inc. pulls in $7.5 million a year in revenues and provides comprehensive data management solutions, focusing on electronic commerce technology; and Mary Ann Mitchell of Culver City-based Computer Consulting Operations Specialists Inc.
The mayor’s honorees include A1 Export International, a custom packing company in Gardena; AVG Inc., a Chatsworth company that makes animatronic figures for theme parks and the entertainment industry; Eagle Systems, an Anaheim imaging supply company; Alycia Enciso & Associates, a Los Angeles interior design firm; Mega Toys, a downtown toy manufacturer; and Inglewood-based Tumohr Construction.
Minority advocates to be honored are consultants Debbie Esparza of Esparza & Associates and Rebecca Barrantes of Sierra Group.
