“I was at the last game at Candlestick Park and afterward we went to a landmark restaurant--Enrico’s. We were talking about the game. And we had a 1996 Grapillon d’Or Gigondas. It was perfect. It was flavorful but not heavy. It had a lot of nice berry character and the typical peppery character. It was very easy to drink. One doesn’t often associate fine wine with baseball . . . but mostly (the evening) was about an era--San Francisco in the ‘50s and ‘60s. We were talking about old San Francisco.”
