Emulex Posts Record Net in Quarter as Revenue Doubles

Emulex Corp., Costa Mesa-based developer of high-speed computer networking products, posted record net income for the first fiscal quarter as revenue doubled.

Net income for the three months ended Sept. 26 climbed to $6.8 million, or 36 cents a share, from $422,000, or 3 cents a share, for the same quarter a year ago. Revenue totaled $28.9 million, up from $14.1 million.

Emulex said fiber channel shipments nearly quadrupled in the first quarter, accounting for 75% of the company’s total revenue, up from 39% a year ago.

Emulex shares rose $5, or 4.8%, to $110. The company announced the quarterly results after the market closed. On Tuesday, Emulex announced plans for its second 2-for-1 stock split in recent months.
