Sun Microsystems Inc. urged a federal judge to reinstate an injunction that blocked Microsoft Corp. from shipping products using a version of Sun’s copyrighted Java computer language unless they meet Sun’s compatibility requirements. Microsoft and Sun were in court nearly two months after the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals lifted the injunction. Microsoft claims the injunction, granted by U.S. District Judge Ronald Whyte in San Jose in November, has cost the company $35 million. Shares of Microsoft, based in Redmond, Wash., fell $2.63 to $88.06. Shares of Sun, based in Palo Alto, rose $3.16 to $92.56. Both trade on Nasdaq.
