JERUSALEM — David Ivri, a former air force commander and senior Defense Ministry official, will be Israel’s next ambassador to Washington, the Foreign Ministry announced Tuesday.
Over the years, Ivri has been closely involved in Israel’s purchases of American weapons and other aspects of security cooperation with Washington.
Ivri, 65, a major general in the reserves and head of Israel’s National Security Council, has served as director general of the Defense Ministry and special advisor to the defense minister.
He will take over from Zalman Shoval, an appointee of the previous government of Benjamin Netanyahu.
