Direct marketer Harte-Hanks Inc., a publisher of shopper newspapers, agreed to buy Ziff-Davis Inc.’s ZD Market Intelligence unit for $106 million in cash and debt to broaden its high-tech customer base. La Jolla-based ZD Market Intelligence, with expected 1999 revenue of $50 million, provides information and buying plans on technology and communications infrastructure. San Antonio-based Harte-Hanks will pay $101 million in cash and $5 million in assumed liability for deferred revenue. Harte-Hanks closed up 69 cents at $22.44 and Ziff-Davis rose 38 cents to $15.44, both on the New York Stock Exchange.
