The American Red Cross needs licensed nurses for its influenza immunization program for senior citizens in the fall. The Volunteer Center Assistance League of Southern California needs tutors and mentors for the Kindergarten Intervention Program, which helps students in kindergarten through third grade who have academic, social or emotional problems. Guide Dogs of America in Sylmar is looking for people to raise future guide dogs. Volunteers raise 2-month-old puppies in their homes, teaching them obedience and taking them wherever they go.
