DINNER AND SELICHOT: In observance of Selichot, which marks the beginning of Jewish High Holy Days, a dinner and dessert social will be held Saturday at 7 and 9 p.m. at Kol Tikvah Temple, 20400 Ventura Blvd., Woodland Hills. Rabbinic intern Dan Moskovitz and Cantor Caren Glasser will conduct Selichot services at 10 p.m. The cost for the dinner is $8 for adults and $5 for children. Information: (818) 348-0670.

ANNUAL SELICHOT: Beth Knesset Bamidbar will host its annual Selichot services in which Rabbi Alan Henkin and congregants will present Hebrew and Yiddish poetry in translation, dealing with such High Holy Days themes as sin, repentance and forgiveness, Saturday from 8 to 11:30 p.m. at the synagogue, 1611 E. HIGH HOLY DAYS SERVICES: Chabad of the Conejo will hold free High Holy Days services at three locations. No tickets are necessary to attend Rosh Hashana services Friday at 7 p.m., Sept. 11 at 9:30 a.m. and Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. in the Hyatt Westlake Plaza Hotel Grand Ballroom, 880 S. MOVIE AND DISCUSSION: The movie “The Jazz Singer” will be screened as part of a pre-Selichot program Saturday at 8:30 p.m. at Temple Ramat Zion, 17655 Devonshire St., Northridge.
