Charter Reform

Share

It appears that when the people of Los Angeles voted for charter reform, it was a peaceful way of having a revolution without firing a shot.

The new adopted reform caused some of the City Council members to run around like chickens with their heads cut off. Instead of putting full concentration on important issues, they are wasting time with the unimportant ones. A lot of time is also wasted handing out awards to deserving people. It’s Lights! Action! Camera! at City Hall, but try to trade one of the awards for a lousy cup of coffee. It may mean something to the recipient but not to anyone else.

The thing that we really need is a moratorium to hold back any attempts by the City Council to pass new controls or ordinances for at least a year or two. The City Council should concentrate on getting the new charter to work, along with existing ordinances. How much money is outstanding from traffic violations? The charter is not going to be an easy task and hopefully it will be worth the effort.

Another point that should be considered is a moratorium to stop our elected officials from traveling abroad at the taxpayers’ expense for special studies. We should be setting the example on how to get things done right here in L.A.

Hopefully, the end of our little revolution will come to an end when secession is finally here. We have to recognize the smoke screens that are placed before us in lieu of the truth.
