More information about the Times small-business survey and its first-ever focus on minority-owned businesses--detailed in today’s paper--will be presented at the second Los Angeles Times Small Business Strategies Conference on Sept. 24-25.
Survey creators, plus representatives from minority business associations, will discuss results that showed significant differences between minority companies and white-owned firms. The Saturday panel discussion includes Times business reporter Lee Romney, Times Poll Director Susan Pinkus and USC business professor William B. Gartner, who originated the first Times-USC poll last year.
Also appearing will be Linda Smith, director of FAME Renaissance, Gelly Borromeo, publisher of Asian Enterprise magazine, and Hector Barreto Jr., head of the Latin Business Assn.
The Times conference is part of its outreach and service to the small-business community. Held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, the event features 56 sessions, eight of them in Spanish, all geared to businesses seeking to grow and expand.
In addition, the conference features three networking workshops, one-on-one advice from a team of business experts and an exhibit hall with companies whose products and services are geared to small businesses.
