No, wait! Their attorneys get a one-third contingency fee from that, so that leaves about $74,400.

Oops! Don’t forget Uncle Sam. After federal taxes are taken out, the couple will have about $50,000.

But one of their attorneys said they couldn’t be happier. They plan to put it toward paying off their home mortgage.

Authorities believe the cash was part of a money-laundering operation, and prosecutors argued the government should get all of it.
