8 on Mexico’s Anti-Drug Force Arraigned
Eight officers from the nation’s federal anti-drug police force have been arraigned on charges of kidnapping and racketeering for allegedly demanding ransoms to free two suspected drug traffickers, authorities said Thursday.
The officers were arrested last week, and the 3rd District Criminal Court in Mexico City issued the arraignment Tuesday, the attorney general’s office announced.
Three other men who posed as police officers to assist in the Sept. 7 kidnapping also were charged.
The suspected drug traffickers were charged with possessing narcotics with intent to distribute.
